22ND CASTLES BIKE RIDE - 3|6|18
WE TAKE TO THE HILLS
It's nearly time for the annual Castles Bike Ride - in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support!
This year is the 22nd addition of the casual ride; as always there is three options to the mountain bike route; 10, 20 & 30 mile distances are yours to chose from!
We are very proud to have supported the ride since the first year - we have always believed in the event, due to Macmillan holding a very special place in our hearts having friends directly use Macmillan Cancer Support services. Some of our team riders and plenty of our store staff will be riding the event - so look out for them !
Come and join us and hundreds of others on Sunday 3rd June for an exciting day out in the countryside and enjoy biking at its best on the popular Ridgeway route and surrounding areas of Swindon. Sign on from 9am for a 10am start at the Croft Sports Centre, Swindon!
Mountain Bike Ride
Riders can choose between three distance options, Approx 30 Miles, 20 Miles or 10 Miles, all follow the Ridgeway along ancient byways, tracks and bridle ways in a scenic loop of the Downs. The routes are clearly marked and marshaled, with light refreshments provided along the route.
Our Road Bike Event the Mac Snap ChallengeWe used to be asked if the Castles Bike Ride is suitable for road bikes and we have had to say "No". But last year we said "YES" as we are putting on a route just for you roadies out there. Our Road Bike only route is based on a challenging Sky Ride route designed by Lew Lawton. The 24 miles uses many of the road sections of the Castles Bike Ride but keeps you firmly on the tarmac and has a few challenges including the (in)famous Snap Hill from on the Ogbourne St George to Aldbourne Road. Water only will be available in Ogbourne St George just before the hill.
SUPPORTING MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. Every day 10 people in Wiltshire are diagnosed with cancer. Macmillan is a source of support to these people, providing practical, medical, emotional & financial support.
Last year's Castles Ride raised £5,500 - an incredible amount; enabling us to continue to provide vital support to people living with cancer, their carers & families within the Wiltshire area.
