A BELGIAN FAMILY BUSINESS

Thompson Bicycles is a Belgian family business set up in 1921 by Hector De Smet in the town of Geraardsbergen, home of the “Muur van Geraardsbergen” which became famous through the Tour of Flanders.

As soon as it was founded, Thompson started full in- house production, from design to frame building, painting and assembling. The public quickly got to know the Thompson motto: “High quality bikes at a fair price”. After more than 90 years in the business and 4 generations of De Smets later, this ideology remains the same!

A HISTORY OF SUCCESS

Because of the design and quality, the racing bikes immediately found their way to the peloton of professional riders. Famous riders like “Iron” Briek Schotte for example won his first Tour de Flanders on a Thompson racing bike in 1942, he would later go on to win the Tour 5 more times making him one of the greatest “Flandriens”!

But “Iron” Briek wasn’t the only rider who took advantage of the excellent quality of Thompson bikes, Roger Decock won the Tour de Belgium in 1954 riding Thompson, in an interview later in his life he said that “the Thompson bike I rode in ’54 was the best racing bike I ever had”!

PILOT SLOPING	SPORTIVE	The Pilot is a trickle down from the Sirius. Using the same frame geometries so this will suit an all round rider who wants to ride Sportive events swell as a UCI road race. This Frameset is offered with a carbon fork with an alloy steerer making it a great affordable full carbon road bike never compromising on the reputed Thompson ride. The Pilot is also availing in a sloping style frame with sizes ranging form 44cm-52cm upwards so it really is designed with every type of rider in mind!
